Introduction
Wexford Yacht Club Inc., is a criticially important component of Wexford Plantation, a separate legal entity but constructed so that it still an integral part of Wexford. Many of the questions asked about the Yacht Club focus on this relationship. The following questions and answers summarize some of the most common subjects of concern.
- What is the nature of the Slip Ownership?
- Membership in the Yacht Club entitles you to exclusive use of a particular dock space which you choose from the inventory of slips available at the time you contract to buy a membership. It is not Fee-Simple. Actual ownership of slips remains versted in the yacht Club itself.
- What are you buying in a membership?
- You are buying the convenience and recreational benefits associated with the exclusive right to use the boat slip.
- What are the conveniences?
- A secure harbour, minimal changes in water level, fee-based cleaning and polishing services, and 24/7 staff operations. Each slip offers self contained utilities including water and electricity and the Harbour Center provides pumpout facilities.
- What are the recreational benefits?
- A slip owner is offered unlimited use of the Harbour lock system to gain access to Broad Creek and the Intracoastal Waterway.
- Is refueling permitted within the Harbour?
- No!
- Is it permitted to live aboard a boat?
- Living aboard a vessel is strictly limited to fourteen days per quarter. However, a written request may be made to the Wexford Plantation Homeowners Association for an exception.
- Are outside maintenance service companies permitted to perform work in the harbour?
- Maintenance is restricted to minor repairs or servicing. A service company must meet contractor regulations for working in the Plantation.
- What policies govern the use and navigation of boats in the Harbour?
- The current policies may be downloaded from the Wexford Website.
- What are the requirements for operating a boat in Wexford Harbour?
- Boats may only be operated in the Harbour by a Wexford Property Owner or a co-owner who is their resident house guest.
