Following a major renovation, Arnold Palmer opened his Signature Course at Wexford Plantation in 2011. The 18–hole Wexford Course was originally designed by Willard C. Byrd and opened in 1983. After the renovation, each hole retained a distinctive and timeless look while adding numerous risk and reward challenges that offer interestingly delicate plays that require thought, imagination and a well honed short game.
The golf course is artistically blended with the natural settings of the community to provide a meticulously maintained journey through tall, majestic oaks and stately pines. It continues around our unique harbor and an expansive stretch of coastal marshlands to offer a unique but special experience with spectacular views.
According to Arnold Palmer Design Company (APDC), Wexford is by no means a replica course, but takes inspiration from a few select template holes such as The Road Hole, Redan, Alps or Biarritz and gives them a modern interpretation that is still founded in traditional and classic golf course architecture.
In addition to the outstanding recently renovated Arnold Palmer Signature Golf Course, APDC also renovated the Wexford driving range and golf practice area, mirroring the renovation of the golf course with target greens and practice bunkers.
An accomplished Director of Golf and staff provide high quality golf instruction and clinics for all members with a particular emphasis on the very active junior section.

We really enjoyed the course, and the greens were spectacular! I played Wexford many years ago and my most vivid memory was how tight the course was. But with the redesign, I was so impressed with how playable the course is.

I loved the changes to the course. The greens are bold, but they suit my taste perfectly. I was very impressed with the width and angles that were created. Wexford is now a MUST SEE in the Hilton Head area for anyone with an interest in course architecture. Can't wait for our panelists to see the new Wexford...they will be very impressed….
I do truly feel that you have an under-appreciated gem on your hands…. The bottom line is that a course that good can't go under the radar as it does a disservice to the game.
I think it is fabulous. The green countours, the bunkering, the collection areas all make for a creative test of golf. Brandon, Arnold Palmer Design, and the club are to be congratulated for the changes. I enjoyed the opportunity to see the course.
Everyone is still raving about the golf course. Our group loves and appreciates bold architecture so Wexford gets high marks from all of us with their efforts. Such a great place. I bet you're having fun there.
I enjoyed our round at Wexford last Sunday very much...the golf course was the equal of the weather, which was really saying something! I have some publicity coming out in the near future, both regionally and nationally, and both pieces will be very complimentary of your fine facility.
The course was fantastic and definitely the highlight of our trip. Brandon did a great job on the renovation. I was blown away, you have a great course and you should be proud of the work done.
I can`t tell you how much I enjoyed Wexford. You have a winner across the board including golf, practice area, staff and bar/restaurant. As someone who is a member of a Mac/Raynor course I loved the templates. Can`t wait to get back for another crack. Stay well.
We had a great time playing the course. It was my first time playing the course and I was very impressed. The greens were very interesting and I loved the fact that every hole presented different challenges off the tee.

The recent redesign work is terrific. The greens were the absolute highlight, with some big, bold contours and humps and bumps you seldom see in modern design. A couple of greens were a bit severe for my taste, but still fun to play. The surrounding chipping areas were even better than the putting surfaces themselves, offering countless options. The bunkering was great also, giving the course a nice look and adding strategic elements to so many shots. The well done 'redan' hole was super. I often wonder why it is not done more often these days. The 'Biarritz' style green was lots of fun too, and unexpected. The overall setting was great, with the yacht club and harbor adding a wonderful feel to the club. Finally, the conditions were excellent, with firm and fast turf throughout, allowing for low, running shots, which I loved. The superintendent and his staff are doing a great job. I wish more courses would aim for similar conditions.
